About KLM*

A
Kate Ertmann stands at a desk, using one arm to lean on a brown chair while reading a piece of paper that is being held by her other hand, all while many books and a computer and other papers are all around here. There is a skylight on an angled wall on the right side and Kate has long blonde hair, and is wearing a grey sweatshirt and black pants.

Kate Loves Math* is not about arithmetic.

It’s about making sense of and understanding the world around you in a logical way. It’s about using mathematical tools and concepts to make sense of human behavior.

So many folks have a tricky relationship with math because it’s taught so you can pass a test. If you don’t have a great memory and/or you get test anxiety, you end up thinking, “I’m not good at math.”

And as I learned more about it, outside of school and at my own pace, I realized that math was helping me to ascribe meaning to all the “whys” and all the “hows.”

Are you ready to see the world in a new way? Join our community of everyday folks who think that, in general, math is okay — but it’s even better than okay if it is a model of empowerment.
